Born and raised in Slovenia, Collori’s musical virtuosity and infectious energy could not be contained ever since he finished studying jazz guitar in neighbouring Austria. With countless credits as a session musician (he was the guitarist on Gramatik’s infamous track “Just Jammin”’!) and an impressive resume of fronting various bands, the years of experience culminated in his manouche jazz masterpiece, “Hot Club Piran.” He is obviously referencing the legend himself, Django Reinhard and his Hot Club de France, but while most albums honouring the genre he invented contain reinterpretations, covers or hommages, Teo opted for a completely original take on it. He wrote all the compositions but it should be noted that the album wouldn’t sound like it does without all the great musicians who are playing with him. The interplays between guitar, violin and clarinet are simply joyful and the rest of the band does a marvellous job at keeping up with Teo’s swinging guitar as well.
